The senior project manager will plan, design and deliver their own projects and manage the portfolio of the wider project management team, delivering the required outcomes for an established service provider to the UK wholesale power industry.

Your responsibilities

The senior project manager will deliver system and business change projects critical to the running of the industry settlements and balancing code.  They will be responsible for managing and mentoring other project managers and will have overall accountability for the business project portfolio, including defining the vision, creating the scope of the project portfolio and planning, scheduling and delivering projects on time, in full, to budget.  They will be accountable for overseeing the change management processes required for the projects to land successfully.  They will deliver the project outcomes that meet the agreed metrics.  They will ensure a commercially aware culture within their team.  They will lead their team, manage and negotiate relations with 3rd party organisations, including IT suppliers and partners and they will provide communication and reporting  to the board and to the project stakeholders.  They will create a robust system for delivery that includes controls, key performance indicators, test process and risk management.  

Your profile

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successful project management and delivery.  They will be an experienced leader with excellent communication and influencing skills.  They will have both a broad an detailed understanding of IT.  They will have experience with, and an understanding of the energy market, including the balancing and settlements code. They will be able to demonstrate an ability to manage themselves and their resources under broad direction, and have the ability to plan and deliver work of their own initiation.  They will be able to demonstrate commercial understanding that is credible at the highest levels and show that they can make an immediate impact.  They will be educated to degree level.  They will have a PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification.
